About Hart Nelson

Hart Nelson is a group of Ivy-League educators offering in-home tutoring, test-prep, and homeschooling services from grade school through graduate school. We work in a broad variety of subjects with a wide range of students, from those who are simply trying to pass a tough course, to those at the top of the class who are looking for an extra edge.

We believe that quality tutoring demands more than just academic expertise on the part of the tutor. Developing a warm, positive relationship with the student, without fostering dependency, is the key to establishing a foundation for learning. Providing the student with clear structure and technique for how to approach challenging material is the art of tutoring. By stimulating the learning process, the tutor is able to help the student gain the self-confidence needed to succeed in applying strategies independently.

At Hart Nelson, we focus on identifying the student's strengths. By utilizing strengths while addressing the areas that need attention, tutors are able to boost the student's motivation to learn and to enjoy tackling challenges.

Our focus is on the total learning process, rather than solely on deficits. Current assignments are addressed while students gain transferable skills. Students are encouraged to set attainable goals, and to work towards meeting them.
